Digital X-Rays in Fulshear, TX

Digital X-rays: team member reviewing X-rays on a computer at MK Dental Studio in Fulshear, TX

What are digital X-rays?

Digital X-rays are dental images captured with a small electronic sensor instead of film, so they appear on screen within seconds. At MK Dental Studio in Fulshear, TX, Dr. Madiha Khanani uses digital X-rays to find hidden decay, bone loss and impacted teeth that can’t be seen during a visual exam, with significantly less radiation than traditional film X-rays. Digital X-rays are part of every comprehensive dental exam and are included in our $99 New Patient special for patients without insurance. We accept most PPO plans and serve patients from Fulshear, Brookshire, Katy and the Jordan Ranch community.

Why Choose Digital X-Rays?

Your safety and the accuracy of your diagnosis are our primary concerns. By upgrading to digital technology, we provide a superior diagnostic experience compared to outdated methods.
  • Lower Radiation Exposure: Digital X-rays use significantly less radiation than traditional film.
  • Instant Visualization: Images appear on our screens immediately, allowing us to review findings with you in real-time, alongside your 3D intraoral scan and photos, and explain your treatment plan clearly.
  • Enhanced Clarity: Our team can digitally enlarge, sharpen, and contrast-adjust the images to spot the smallest signs of decay that might be missed on a physical film.

The Digital Diagnostic Process at MK Dental Studio

Our diagnostic workflow is designed to be efficient, comfortable, and informative:
  1. Preparation: We place a small, comfortable sensor inside your mouth to capture the images, ensuring you are relaxed throughout the process.
  2. Instant Capture: With a quick scan, high-resolution images are generated and displayed on our monitors within seconds.
  3. Comprehensive Review: Dr. Madiha Khanani reviews the digital images alongside you, providing a transparent view of your dental health and discussing any necessary steps.

What Digital X-Rays Show at Your Exam

Digital X-rays let Dr. Khanani see areas of your mouth that are hidden during a visual exam. Bitewing images show the spaces between your back teeth, where cavities often start before you notice any sensitivity. Periapical images show an entire tooth from crown to root tip, along with the surrounding bone, which helps reveal infection and bone loss from gum disease. Because the images appear on screen right away, we can enlarge them, adjust the contrast and walk you through what we see before any treatment is recommended. Digital X-rays are also easy to store and share, so if you ever need a specialist, your images can be sent securely without taking them again.

What to Expect When You Get Digital X-Rays

Getting digital X-rays takes only a few minutes. You gently bite on a small sensor, and the image appears on our screen within seconds, with no film to develop and no waiting. If you’re pregnant or think you might be, let our team know before your exam so Dr. Khanani can decide whether imaging should wait.
